MEET RAVEN & MEGAN
Megan and Raven work with the Momma Moments Program, and both have a background in family support programs. Over the last couple of years, they’ve seen the firsthand impact that Momma Moments has on the program participants.
Supporting over 80 moms and 110 kids in the St. John’s metro area, Momma Moments offers support to young families and runs a peer-to-peer support group for moms and their children. Coming together gives young moms a space to connect with one another and reminds them that they are not alone in whatever challenges they are facing.
BEAUTY IN COMMUNITy
The weekly Momma Moments meetings are a chance for moms to relax, access support and connect with CFY staff and the healthcare team in a safe environment. There’s always a home-cooked meal (with more to take home), and countless activities throughout the year the help young families feel connected to their communities and to one another.

The Learn to Camp initiative with Parks Canada is one event each year that makes lasting memories for everyone involved. “The reaction from the moms and children is incredible,” says Raven. “This year’s camping event was a major milestone for many of the moms and kids.”
Beyond social activities and learning opportunities, Momma Moments empowers moms to set and work towards goals with support staff on their side to help when needed. Some have finished school, some have found jobs, and some have been able to reconnect with other members of their family. “The program is full of heart – it’s more than the statistics and outcomes,” says Megan. “It’s seeing the moms reach out and engage with the support that they need.”
